Founded in the 1970ties by Steve Jobs and Stephen Wozniak, in a garage. They built the first computer, that people did not have to assemble themselves, but was ready to use, and affordable. The Apple II range was one of the most successful home-computers at it's age, and the Macintosh, while it did not invent it, certainly made the GUI affordable and available to the general public.
